Below is a list of some of the organizations and charities which Christ Presbyterian Church has supported in the past few years. A brief explanation of the work of each organization is provided as well as a link to their web sites.

  1. El Porvenir, an organization which provides wells and sanitary wash areas in Nicaragua's poorer areas. In 2004, 8 church members spent a week in Nicaragua in support of El Porvenir

  2. Presbytery of Elizabeth Christ Presbyterian Church is a member of the Presbytery of Elizabeth and a portion of the mission budget is allocated to support them in their mission work in local areas such as Elizabeth Port.

  3. Food Bank:
The FoodBank is the state's largest provider of donated groceries to charities, shipping up to 24 million pounds of food annually to 1,500 food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and other programs in 18 counties.

The Food Bank Pantry that we serve is located in the Hope Church at 519 East Main St. in Bound Brook. It is open every Saturday morning from 10 am to 12 noon. We serve on the First Saturday of each month with at least 3 volunteers. In addition we contribute non-perishable foodstuffs and make monetary donations to The Food Bank Network of Somerset County.

  4. Interfaith Hospitality Network:
Interfaith Hospitality Networks (IHNs) provide shelter, meals, and comprehensive support services to homeless families. Family Mentoring helps prevent homelessness by training volunteers to be advisors and advocates to low-income families. Just Neighbors, an interactive educational program, raises awareness of the root causes of poverty and homelessness as the first step in establishing community-based responses. Community Initiatives foster local IHN outgrowth programs, such as transitional housing, job training, childcare, and literacy.

  5. Martinsville Fire Department:
The Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department is one of six departments in Bridgewater Township and covers approximately fourteen square miles in the northern end of the township. The department has two fire stations and seven pieces of apparatus. Martinsville's response area is Bridgewater Fire District 1. The department is comprised completely of volunteers that are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

  6. New York Blood Center
We participate in blood drives for New Jersey Blood Services which is part of the New York Blood Center.

Since 1973, New Jersey Blood Services has been fulfilling its commitment to the people of New Jersey by supplying blood products and services with quality and compassion. New Jersey Blood Services (NJBS) serves approximately 60 New Jersey hospitals and conducts blood drives on a daily basis in 14 New Jersey counties. In order to collect enough blood for the patients in these hospitals, NJBS needs approximately 120,000 blood donors annually. NJBS conducts an estimated 250 blood drives each month, partnering with business and community organizations who host these drives for their employees, residents, students and members.

  7. Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance for U.S. Hurricane Response (Katrina/Rita/Wilma).
